wanted to go see Chinatown so of course I took him to Sam Wo's, a
local institution. Sam's is famous not necessarily for having the best
food or service but more or less for being quite the experience. Our food
was adequate (re. salty), service was surly, and we left quite satisfied.
Afterwards we walked over to my absolutely favorite
Chinatown spots, a fortune cookie factory hidden in an
alleyway. Here's a video of the woman who sits next to a
griddle and folds fortunes into the freshly baked cookies .
He also gave me my birthday gift from their kids, Cecilia and Gabriel:
freshly made blueberry jam....three words: a-ston-ishing! : )
