Fundraiser Dinner

Hey All!

This is the first official post on my shiny new blog! After years of watching the kids with their "blogs" and interweb machine things I've decided to step into the depths of it and start my own.

What better place to start than with the fundraiser dinner that all of you have donated so generously to. My good friend Paul King graciously opened up his home and I made dinner for seven politically energized folks. We had a mixed green salad, spicy chicken sausage lasagna with goat cheese, fresh sourdough bread with roasted garlic, and a homemade blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. All this along with great conversation and Lucy the puppy dog.

I forgot to bring my camera but I'll make sure to do that in the future so everyone actually gets to see the fun.

So thanks to everyone who donated to make this all happen, special thanks Paul for his generosity, and a thanks Brian who helped out and put up with me as I raced madly around the kitchen with knives and other sharp, pointy objects. Shortly I'm off to Nevada to work my tail off insuring that come November 5th we have a President we can be proud of!

Obama + Nevada = Me + You

A dear friend has asked that I begin this blog by posting the initial email that started
this whole ball rolling. I'm sure many of you have read it but here it is again:
...................................................................................................................................

Dear Friends,

I'm writing this email after just returning from Camp
Obama yesterday. I was there from 7am until we adjourned
around 8pm last night. After being angry, frustrated, and
many times furious over the last 8 years I've decided to step
in the the fray, front and center and do my best by channeling
the anger I have into a positive outcome. I have made the
decision to volunteer a significant chunk of my time for the next
5 weeks to insure that Barack Obama gets elected.

So here's the deal: roughly 200 folks attended the event today
and I was one of 16 selected to become a Deputy Field Organizers.
I will manage 75-200 volunteers staffing phone banks here
in SF and canvasing the Nevada, Ohio, and Colorado areas.

I will be spending the weekend of my birthday Oct 3-5, the
weekend of Oct. 24-26, and Oct 31-Nov 4 in Nevada as a Field
Organizer and Community Canvaser working from 8am-10pm
to insure that our Supreme Court remains moderate, that the
war in Iraq comes to a sensible end, that our financial crisis is
constrained, and that the interests of the citizens rise above the
profits of corporations.

What I'm asking if for you to step up and assist me in spending
those 11 days canvassing the streets of Reno. My good friend
Paul King has generously opened up his home and is allowing
me to cook up and serve a delicious homemade dinner this
Thursday September 25th from 6:30p-8:30p. I'll be making
my infamous spicy Italian Sausage Lasagna with goat cheese,
garden salad, fresh sour dough bread (with roasted garlic),
and homemade blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream (the
blackberries were hand-picked by me in the Redwoods last
weekend). I know it's short notice but...hey, it's a seriously
delicious dinner!

My goal is to raise $1000. This will help cover my expenses
to get to Nevada, my housing, and my meals. I'm requesting
donations of between $50-$100. That's it.

You come have a great dinner with friends and I work long
hours to insure that were have a President and administration
that we can be proud of.

If you're too busy to stop in and eat you're more than welcome
to swing by and pick up a plate; if you'd just like to make a
donation I'm happy to accept that as well. Paul's place is cozy
so we only have room for 10 people so let me know as soon as possible!

This election's outcome will resonate for years to come and
so I'm asking you all to stand up with me! Stand up to the
lies, the deceit and the immorality of the last 8 years and lets
put this country on a path that restores its integrity and decency.

Let me represent you in the streets of Nevada!

I love you all very much and thanks for reading,

Brandon
